Learning to Use a Mig Welder is Easy

April 2nd, 2009

Mig welding is one of the easiest processes to learn, as most people can learn to run good beads with a mig welders in just a few hours. It’s really a simple process and very versatile for a variety of jobs.

Although the technology has been around since World War II, it is always changing and improving. New equipment gives the welder mobility and makes it possible to bring the welding equipment to the job that needs done, rather than the other way around. Other improvements in mig welders maximize energy efficiency, which minimizes overhead costs in production. It also makes it possible to use simple energy sources. Often, a common electric outlet in a garage will suffice.

Standing for Metal Inert Gas, Mig welding feeds a spool of solid-steel from the machine though a liner and out the contact tip of the Mig gun. Electrically charged, the contact tip is hot, and pulling the trigger melts the wire to form the weld puddle. It uses inert gases like helium or oxygen, as these gases won’t combine with other elements and contaminate the process.

With short-circuit welding, small droplets of molten wire are heated through a short circuit in order to flow together into a puddle that is then cohesively attached to the weld. Inert gas flows out of the gun, shielding the weld puddle from the atmosphere. A shorter arc length creates a more consistent heat source, heating the material faster for more efficiency and better production.

What’s ideal about mig welding is its ease and versatility. While it works well in high production, indeed helping us win World War II, it’s also ideal for a small shop or garage. It can easily be employed on anything from making art and sculpture to re-working old cars to molding simple parts together.

Not only is Mig welding easy to learn, it’s highly productive, as you don’t have to stop to change rods and brush the weld frequently. It makes great looking welds, whether you are a professional or just doing the job yourself in your own shop. There’s almost no clean-up, and you can weld in any position.

It brings a level of professionalism and efficiency to your shop, but don’t tell your friends. They’ll be asking you to perform endless welding tasks, when you’ve got your own list of jobs to perform with Mig welding technology.

LA Plumbers

March 26th, 2009

If you’re a homeowner, you might be surprised about how many simple tricks can be done to your plumbing system that will really improve its upkeep. Granted, nobody wants to snake a toilet at the end of a long day at the office, nor does anyone want to have their weekend consumed installing a sink when the day would be better spent at the park with the family. Sometimes it’s simply convenient to rely on local LA plumbers when you have a big job to do. But there are simple steps you can do every day to your own system that will minimize the times you’ll have to contact local plumbers in LA for really big jobs.

Clogs can result from either having a large object or multiple objects stuck in your pipes, leaving you standing in a lake every time you take a shower or discovering an ocean when you wander into the basement. Sometimes, the clog can result from an issue you have little control over, but more often than not, it’s because there’s something in your pipes that simply shouldn’t be there. By just preventing clogs, you avoid a slew of problems that would require services from local LA plumbers, costing you money from issues you can quickly take care of yourself.

One of the surest ways to avoid clogs is to never flush anything down the toilet but human waste and toilet paper. Kids especially should be warned. A GI Joe is no American hero if he completely ruins your plumbing line.

Don’t mistake your garbage disposal for a garbage can. Never put anything fibrous, greasy or non-biodegradable down your garbage disposal, and always run water whenever you are using it. Keep water running for 15 seconds both before and after using the disposal.

Install grates in your shower drains to catch hair. You’d be surprised how much of your hair ends up clogged in your pipes.

A root control product should be regularly flushed down your pipes, especially if you’ve had root problems before. Most local plumbers in LA specialize in root removal and should be able to recommend a qualified brand of root control.

By following these simple steps, you’ll maintain your plumbing system and minimize the times you need to call in the professionals. The better you maintain and treat your system, the longer your pipes will last and the fewer service calls you’ll need.

Hawaii Fashion

March 3rd, 2009

Aloha! Do you need to spice up your wardrobe with some fun colors? Are you looking for the perfect shirt to wear this summer? If so, then maybe it is time you looked into owning a Hawaiian shirt or two.

Hawaiian shirts come in almost every color imaginable. There are shirts in every color from the rainbow and many other colors you never thought existed. Some Hawaiian shirts come in multiple colors and can even have a color scheme of more than 20 colors in one shirt.

There are hundreds of different prints available on Hawaiian shirts including contemporary, vintage, retro, traditional, and novelty themes. There are even Hawaiian shirts that have holiday prints so you can wear them for any occasion.

Hawaiian shirts are mostly made from silk, rayon, or cotton but some of the nicer shirts are made from linen. All of these materials are light and airy, just the thing for your perfect Hawaiian day.

There are Hawaiian shirts for men, women, children and pets. A family can even get an entire matching set of Hawaiian shirts. Hawaiian prints also come on dresses, pants, shorts, tank tops, sandals, hats, jewelry and luggage.  You can even purchase Hawaiian lotions and skin care.

Hawaiian home décor is available for purchase including picture frames and glassware. Bedding, blankets, curtains, shower curtains, bath rugs and bathroom accessories are also offered in Hawaiian prints.

The Hawaiian shirt, or Aloha shirt, is a visible greeter and ambassador and is worn as a statement of a person’s love and connection with a special place. The Hawaiian shirt originated in the 1930’s and has evolved over the decades. Originally, there were fifteen different Hawaiian prints made. These prints were then sent to Japan where they were printed by hand onto silk.

Surfers and beach goers started noticing these Hawaiian shirts and began buying them in increasing numbers. Visitors to Hawaii started bring home Hawaiian shirts as souvenirs and people started falling in love with the bright, easy to wear, casual look of these shirts and an entire new fad began.

At the end of the 1950’s, Hawaii became America’s 50th state and even more attention and tourists were brought to the islands, and more significantly to the Hawaiian shirt.  The Hawaiian shirt began to make appearances in movies and on television and the hype behind the Hawaiian shirt has not seemed to fade. The popularity of these shirts has managed to bleed through the decades and will most likely manage to do so throughout the years to come.

Three rules of marketing: location, location, location!

February 23rd, 2009

If you are thinking about Prairie Grove advertising and Algonquin advertising there are many things that you have to take into consideration before you spend lots of money and see little results. These two villages are situated less than fifty miles to the northwest of the city of Chicago. Minutes from the Wisconsin border, these two villages serve as gateways for travelers passing through these destinations headed towards Rockford and Chicago. Advertising in one of these towns can have a significant impact on the growth of your business.

Location is everything when it comes to advertising! Any business owner can tell you that choosing to advertise in a poor location is a complete waste of money. Remember that the objective of an advertising campaign is to increase your business so that you cover the costs of your advertising and see a profit. Getting the word out about your products or services can be considerably easier and cheaper than you anticipated. There are many advertising options that can be fairly inexpensive yet provide your business with much more exposure than it had before.

Prairie Grove is located about an hour northwest of Chicago and a little less than hour away from Rockford. This village is bordered by Illinois State Route 31 which connects the town to McHenry to the north and Crystal Lake to the south. If you would like to advertise your business to these three locations, Prairie Grove advertising might be the perfect solution. This village serves as the main route for many travelers headed to either the north or the south.

Algonquin is another great location to consider advertising in. The Village of Algonquin is quickly growing and expanding its residential and retail base. Popularly traveled Algonquin streets include Illinois State Route 31 and Algonquin Road. These two streets offer prime Algonquin advertising locations because of their high traffic rates and central location serving as the main arteries to neighboring communities such as Cary and Crystal Lake.

If you own a business close to the Wisconsin border in Illinois to the northwest of Chicago, you should consider Prairie Grove advertising and Algonquin advertising as potential ways to grow your business. Finding the right location to advertise your business is essential. Picking a place that is centrally located can have a huge impact on the amount of business that you have. These two villages are in prime advertising locations.

Movin’ on up on Chi town

There are a number of Chicago Illinois condos on the market now; buyers definitely have an advantage if they can afford to purchase a condo in the city at the present time. Buying a condo in Chicago is much more affordable now than it has been in decades. The number of condos that are for sale, combined with the significant drop in the number of people who can afford to buy right now, have proven to be quite advantageous to anyone who is in the market for a condo and that can currently afford to buy one.

There are thousands of Chicago Illinois condos listed for sale right now. From expensive high rise units boasting magnificent views of Lake Michigan, to smaller one bedroom condos, there is a large variety of buying options available. Condos are made to suit a wide variety of budgets by being designed to encompass many different types of units. Even condominium complexes house a variety of different styles of condos to suit different tastes and budgets. The penthouse may have thousands of square footage and expansive balconies while the standard units on the lower floors may be your typical two bedroom one bath condo. Developers have certainly taken the diverse needs and budgets of city dwellers into consideration when building these complexes.

Mixed use developments have also revolutionized the Chicago Illinois condos market. Now a particular building may house both business and residential condos. Executives now can have the option of living in the same building as they work in. This building will also include a gym, clothing cleaner, and pharmacy. Imagine being able to live with every convenience located inside the same place. With the number of condos that are available to buy right now, you can find the perfect one to suit all of your needs and purchase it for a price that you can afford.

Also, if you have rented an apartment your entire life you may be surprised to learn that owning your own condo is a realistic option. While landlords have been increasing monthly rent in order to cover rising energy costs, the values of condos have been decreasing. In fact, even with a minimal down payment, renters can buy a condo and virtually be making the same monthly payment that they had been spending on their rent. Buying your own condo can be a great financial investment in today’s economy.

Dentists’ little helper

February 14th, 2009

For people looking to improve almost any dental imperfection, the application of tooth veneers can be a solution for perfect teeth. Made from porcelain-like materials, they are applied to the front of teeth, on top of the enamel, and can address a number of common flaws.

For discoloration, they are applied to all of the most discolored teeth in the traditional method: the enamel is filed down in a thickness equal to thickness of the veneer – a fraction of a millimeter. They are then bonded to the tooth with a temporary adhesive to be checked for shape and color. The dentist can shape the veneer to match other teeth, or reconstruct a new overall smile shape if several are being applied at once. In addition, the color of each one can be graded so that the whole set seems entirely natural, but brighter than the natural color. After the color and shape are satisfactory, they are affixed to the tooth with a cement adhesive that will last for 5-10 years or more.

To address gaps between teeth, a dentist can employ tooth veneers in lieu of more expensive orthodontics. The dentist simply shapes the material to a size slightly larger than the teeth at each side of the gap, filling in the gap with the larger, more symmetrical teeth. The result is a perfect set of teeth in just one visit to the dentist, rather than the temporary results achieved by months of wearing expensive orthodontic devices like braces or Invisalign®. Veneers can also be applied on crooked teeth to achieve an appearance of straightness, simply by the way the dentist chooses to creatively cut and place the material on the teeth.

For such an old dental technology, the veneer affords the dentist with a strong aesthetic sensibility the opportunity to improve smiles and drastically change lives in the course of just one or two office visits. One would be hard-pressed to find a technique and technology that is so versatile in the course of day-to-day clinical cosmetic dentistry. Of course, more skilled dentists have found even more uses for them and have employed the same principles to achieve even more amazing results, reconstructing entire smiles out of them where other dentists would have simply called for dentures. These are the true artists – many of them graduates of LVI who are now instructors.

Make Money Helping People

February 13th, 2009

I always thought that massage therapists had to go to college for four years before they were certified to perform massages. I just assumed that the profession must require a four year degree since message therapists get paid so well. I had heard that most of them average sixty dollars per hour long massage. When you take into account that the average massage therapist does about six or seven massages a day that comes out to be some fantastic money. Although the pay is a great incentive, having a career that can provide you with a sense of fulfillment from helping others to feel better is another motivating factor in deciding to pursue a career in massage therapy.

Then I found out from a friend that message therapists only require a certificate and that most message therapy classes can be completed in about a year. I couldn’t believe that after a year of massage therapy classes you can have a career as a massage therapist and be earning that much money. It seemed too good to be true. I wondered why I hadn’t looked into this sooner.

I went on-line and checked out some of the accredited massage therapy programs offered in my area and I was surprised to learn that most programs can be completed in less than two years with some more aggressive programs ending in one year. It really was possible to train for an entirely new career in a year.

I looked at the different massage therapy classes that were required for the program and was excited about the prospect learning both in the classroom and getting in clinical experience hours. How many careers allow you to get hands on experience in perfecting your skills and techniques before releasing you out into the real world? Definitely not enough! This sounded fantastic like a fantastic opportunity. I found an accredited school that was located less than twenty minutes from my house. They offered massage therapy classes year round too, so I didn’t have to wait for a new semester to begin school, I was able to start in three weeks.

I applied for financial aid and received a generous grant to help me with my tuition. It seemed as if the stars had aligned and I was walking down the path towards my calling in life.  After I started taking my massage therapy classes I only had one more question left…Why hadn’t I thought of this sooner?

Remembering your service, the good times and bad

February 13th, 2009

A medal is a badge of honor, an example of valor, courage and bravery. If you are currently in the Naval or have served in the past, wearing a Navy medal shows your pride in service of protection of this great nation. More than a commendation to a single person, a Navy medal represents the sacrifices of many, a tribute to those who have lay down their lives defending our most precious freedoms.

As tributes to those who served America, medals also serve as symbolic pieces of history, precious icons of the glorious past of America’s armed forces in their struggles to preserve the life we hold dear. A World War II Victory Medal is a testament to America’s struggle against evil, a tribute to the struggles this great nation endured delivering the world from tyranny. A Vietnam Service Medal reminds us all that those who fell shall never be forgotten; indeed, they’ll be remembered and honored with the dignity they deserve. An Iraq Campaign Medal or an Afghanistan Campaign Medal serves as bold remembrances of those who continually lay down their lives in today’s struggles for freedom.

Let that history live in its honorary place on your own Naval uniform whenever you wear it with pride. Medals add prestige and glory to the honor of wearing a US armed services uniform, shining like gold medallions to be respected and treasured. ‘

Unlike antique medals, medals made today are conveniently light, giving your uniform that same glorified shine without weighing it down. Another major advantage to brand new medals is the mounting options. They can conveniently be attached to the uniform with simple magnets, so you don’t need to puncture or damage the thread of the uniform. Using the traditional pins can cause extra wear to the uniform, tearing threads and fabric that deteriorates faster over time.

To proudly wear a medal, it deserves to be polished. A polished medal suggests a drive to succeed, an eye for perfection in the name of service. It shows you put pride and honor into every facet of your appearance, right down to the proud glimmer your medal displays.

Wear your medals proudly, not so much as a matter of self-recognition, but as a tribute to those who have fallen for the freedoms we all hold so very dear. Bestow the pride that service to this country deserves with medals that honor the sacrifices of so many.

Good-looking bowlers’ shoes: not just for him anymore

February 5th, 2009

When it comes to bowling, women may be on equal footing compared to men, but their feet couldn’t be any more different.

Sure, you can compete against men. You can roll with the best of them and hold your own on the lane. But your feet are different. They need special care and consideration.

Women shouldn’t have to wear bowling shoes designed for a man. Womens bowling shoes are specifically designed for a woman’s foot. A woman’s foot is more slender, specifically shaped, and you need a shoe that’s uniquely designed for your body type. Wearing womens bowling shoes allows for a better fit, which means more control and versatility on the lanes.

Treat your feet right. You deserve shoes that are uniquely designed for you and your contours. There’s no reason to be wearing shoes meant for a man. By choosing a shoe that better conforms to the shape of your foot, you’ll feel more comfortable and better at the game. You’ll not only feel better; you’ll bowl better too.

Plus, if you are truly committed to bowling and bowl more than even a few times of year, you really owe it to yourself and your pocketbook to invest in your own shoes. Do the math. All it takes is the price of a few rentals to equal the worth of a quality bowling shoe. Once you buy the shoe, it’s yours, and bowling becomes all that more affordable a hobby and lifestyle to enjoy.

Rental shoes are just ugly, but the truth is there are many bowling shoes on the market that look and feel just like regular tennis shoes. There’s no reason to feel like a clown from the 1970s every time you hit the lanes. You can wear sleek, comfortable shoes that don’t look out of place with your outfit or your personality.

Treat yourself, and make bowling more affordable at the same time. You’ll love this sport even more when you have shoes you can call your own, shoes that have that special fashion so you can look and feel good every time you step out onto the lane. By choosing shoes designed for a woman, you’ll better treat the preferences of your feet, not to mention bowl a better and more enjoyable game.

Robotics Revolutionizes the Future of Manufacturing

January 27th, 2009

The future is today, thanks to recent monumental strides in the science of robotics and automation. While robotics had previously been only usable in the imagination of  science fiction, offering very few practical applications, this is no longer the case. Recent innovations in robotic movement, computer design and technology have propelled robotics to completely revolutionize manufacturing in the 21st century.

The articulated robot, for example, can perform a variety of tasks in a relatively confined space, reducing the amount of area needed on an assembly line incrementally. The robots can range from simple two-jointed structures to arms that feature as many as 10 joints, depending on the confines and specifications of the job required. This allows for a high degree of freedom.

Plus, the relatively simple programming features of an articulated robot make it even more versatile to the job. This enables in-house computer programmers to easily reconfigure the robot for a number of specialized tasks, and can be conveniently adapted to fit new jobs.

Any job that includes a repetitive task is best performed by robotics. Human minds are too creative and intelligent to handle the repetitive jobs that  can  be performed by machines more consistently. The monotony of these tasks only invites human error, which is only natural when asked to perform such mundane jobs repetitively. When you are dealing with a production line that requires absolute uniformity and perfection, however, you just don’t have room for human error. Giving the repetitive job to a robot ensures that the job is done correctly each and every time, even when it needs to be performed a million times.

Robotics not only speed up an assembly line and make the most efficient use of work space possible, they also guarantee a level of quality and precision that just isn’t possible with traditional labor. In fact, given recent developments in the field of machine vision, robots can even be used to perform quality inspections on their own work. Quality control can be done at an automated level, so that even work inspection is not left to the fickleness of human error.

The science of articulated robots has reached maturity, making their application at every level of the assembly process not only feasible, but the only way to maximize profit while guaranteeing a quality production. Thanks to modern automation, manufacturing will never be the same again.
